PYV North Camp and East Camp this weekend

This weekend is a busy and exciting one for Presbyterian Youth Victoria (PYV) with two camps happening at the same time. 

In Northern Victoria a group will be meeting at Camp Kookaburra. It has been good to be at this site for a few years now where there are wide open spaces and canola fields all around. With a growing number of teenagers from the north and a good group from the suburbs, it promises to be a good gathering. Rev Clinton Le Page from Bundoora Presbyterian Church is our speaker for this camp. Clinton has been communicating the gospel of Jesus Christ for some years now and has a good connection with young people. 

 

In Eastern Victoria a similar sized group will be at Camp Rumbug. This camp helps to improve the fitness of our youth as they walk up and down the hills that make up the site during the activities. Rev Dave Martin from New Life Presbyterian Church in Officer is our speaker for this camp. Dave has been involved in sharing the gospel for a long time now and is one of those who can not only preach the gospel clearly, he can also hold the attention of teenagers. 

Our regional camps in 2019 have the theme of "The Gospel - What is it?" Both preachers will be helping our youth to understand why the gospel of Jesus Christ really is good news for the world, and importantly why it is good news for teenagers in 2019. 

Both camps have a tremendous team of leaders who have been faithful in preparing for the tasks that await them. For most of them it will mean leading an activity group, being a dorm leader, and leading a study group as well. It is preparing for the studies that most of the pre-camp work is being done. 

But we also have leaders who have the responsibilities of preparing the activities, preparing our worship sessions, ensuring everybody has enough food, and making sure everything is organised before we start on Saturday morning. 

Would you join us in praying for the weekend ahead please? Here are some things to be praying for - 

• That God would glorify himself in the preaching of his word
• That God would glorify himself in the transformed lives of teenagers
• Safety in our travels and in our activities
• Building of healthy relationships

We will aim to post a blog here each day from Saturday to Monday to give you an idea of what has been happening. And then I look forward to sharing something with you all a week or two after camp.
